Last year venues across the UK including London King’s Cross mainline station, The Blackpool Tower and Leeds’ First Direct arena, all lit-up purple on 26 March to raise awareness of epilepsy.
We want to build on last year’s purple success. We want even more venues to turn purple in 2016 to get people talking about epilepsy. But we need your help!
You know your local area and the landmarks that would have the most impact and visibility if turned purple. That’s why we’ve produced a template letter that you can personalise to approach local landmarks to ask them to support Purple Day this year. Our goal is that with your support we can turn the UK purple for 24 hours!
Here are some ideas of the type of venues that may be able to light-up for Purple Day:
- Local landmarks—for example Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, The Blackpool Tower
- Town halls/ Council chambers
- Shopping centres
- Train stations
- Arenas—for example First Direct, Manchester Evening News
- Local churches/ war memorials
- Pubs/ night clubs
Let us know if your area is town is turning purple
Once you’ve used our template letter tell us how you got on. Especially if your local landmark is getting involved and lighting-up purple.
Tell us what the landmark is and where it is by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Take a photo
If possible please take a photo of yourself in front of the purple landmark holding this poster. Please share your photo with us on Facebook or Twitter.
