About the Great North Run
The Great North Run started in 1981 and is firmly established as the world’s most popular half-marathon. Starting in Newcastle upon Tyne, the 13.1 mile route takes runners through the city centre, across the iconic Tyne Bridge and all the way to South Shields.
"It is a wonderful experience being among over 50,000 runners. The support along the way is amazing, so encouraging, you just know it will get you over the finish line!" Ian and Helen
