Archival quality print on paper, 60 x 60cm, 2018.
For 40 years Audrius V. Plioplys has been both a professional artist and a neurologist / neuroscientist. His art investigates how the mind functions: how thinking and consciousness arise. He has transformed the artist’s studio into a neurobiology research laboratory.
Dr Plioplys has had 45 individual exhibits and participated in 98 group shows. His work is displayed in museums, universities and major art collections internationally.
He says about the artwork shown on the current cover of Seizure: “In this piece, I interweave a photograph of Sybil’s house in rural Minnesota, which I visited in 1980. She had dissociative identity disorder and was the subject of two major motion pictures (1976 and 2007).”
