We exist to improve the lives
of everyone affected by epilepsy

Frances Lewis

‘Tortoise Brain’.  The dreamlike nature of my art is inspired by my condition.

Frances Lewis has had epilepsy since childhood but wasn’t diagnosed until she was an adult. She found being diagnosed with epilepsy a relief. She felt strangely complete. Suddenly Frances made sense. Tortoise brain is a self portrait of her as a child, when she wondered why she was different. With understanding came empowerment.
