It was three and half months before my eighth birthday I had what my parents thought was my first seizure. From the time the seizure started till the time the hospital stabilised me it was nearly 3 hours. I was kept in hospital till the next day to be monitored. My parents were told that because of the severity of the seizure it was unlikely that it was the first seizure and I could have been having very mild seizures for up to a year before this huge seizure, I was discharged the next day. My parents were told that for Me to be diagnosed with epilepsy there has to be 3 episodes of seizures.
The big seizure was in September 92, then I had another seizure in January 93 and another one in March 93. Although all of these 3 seizures were different from one another. I started the first of many hospital appointments where they were changing my medication dosage to try and control my seizures. I was put on tegretol retard. Unfortunately due to the huge seizure it did affect my brain of which i have been left with a degree of learning disability which effects my everyday living, by which both at junior school and secondary school I suffered from bullying which has continued within several work places due to individuals not understanding the way epilepsy affects you as a person.due to this it has effected my confidence. I am just about to turn 30 years old and have been seizure free for 10 years, i have had to fight majority of my life to get to where i am now.
