I was diagnosed with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy 10thFebruary 2016. I am finally starting to come to terms with the condition and having to take medication everyday. I have not yet gained control over the condition and continue to up the doses of the tables I take until the seizures stop. I can't wait for the day!
Going to Mary Cuthbert’s Bingley fitness studio and Peter Stell’s Boxercise classes gave me something to look forward to at the end of a hard day travelling to work and back.I got asked to join the Bingley Boxercise Tough Mudder team in around October time last year. Peter and the guys and girls their have helped me through a tough period in my life. Through doing Tough Mudder It has encouraged me to talk to people about my condition and try and raise awareness.
I chose Epilepsy Action as when I was first diagnosed I knew nothing about the condition and was too scared and embarrassed to talk to anyone about it. Epilepsy Actions website had information there to teach myself about what was going on with my condition. I used the text helpline to answer question that I couldn’t find anywhere else. Tough Mudder has been the challenge and focus that I have needed to get me though the worst of it.
I feel like I am coming out the other side now. I want to give others like me hope that they can achieve anything they want to. I wanted to raise £500 for Epilespy Action. Thanks to a lot of support around me I have managed to raise to date £988.35 and a few donations are still coming in to my Just Giving page. Tough Mudder was an amazing experience and I recommend it to anyone, the team sprit was unbelievable from all the teams!
