If you have a child with epilepsy under the age of 16, then come to our event in Moneymore at JungleNI from 11.00am - 3.00pm. The whole family is welcome!
There will be a kids corner, with epilepsy specialist nurses using Epilepsy Action resources to help encourage children to talk about their epilepsy in an informal way, away from a clinical setting. For parents, there will be an opportunity to have a tea / coffee in a relaxed area and informally meet and chat with other parents, volunteers and health professionals.
We have activities specifically aimed at helping the emotional wellbeing of children affected by epilepsy, as well as their siblings. Stress can often be a big factor for children with epilepsy and their siblings. We have both mindfulness for children and sound therapy available.
The event will be a great opportunity to:
- Meet other parents, volunteers and health professionals in a relaxed setting
- Meet other families affected by the condition
- Find out what support is available from Epilepsy Action
Activities for children will include:
- Quad train
- Inflatable course
- Fun Zorbs
- Llama walking
- Climbing wall
- Face painting
- Rodeo Bull
- Bungee Trampoline
- Gruffalo Trail
- Crafts corner
There will also be an opportunity to enter a free draw to win a family glamping experience at JungleNI.
Families are asked to bring their own picnic lunch though tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided for adults. Juice and a snack for children.
Parents are responsible for supervising their children on the day and the decision on whether or not a child participates in an activity will be down to their parent, with the agreement of the activity instructor. Every effort will be made to make all the activities as accessible as possible for all children.
There is accessible parking available for children with mobility difficulties. Epilepsy Action Northern Ireland is providing epilepsy awareness training for staff at JungleNI. There will be a quiet area available if needed for seizure recovery.
