24 October, 2000

Channel 4 this week gives the UK terrestrial TV premiere of the 1997 film 'First Do No Harm'.

Starring Meryl Streep and based on true events, the film follows the story of a mother whose son is diagnosed with epilepsy. When, in her opinion, the treatment recommend by her son's doctors fails to help him, she decides to go against the doctor's opinion and tries an alternative treatment, the Ketogenic Diet - a decision that is met with hostility from the medical profession.

The film, which was recently released on video and DVD, will be shown on Thursday 26 October at 1.25pm.
