Actavis/Accord zonisamide capsules out of stock

11 Aug 2020

Zonisamide capsules made by Actavis/Accord are out of stock in all strengths. Actavis/Accord do not know when they will be back in stock, although they have told us it is likely to be at least 2 to 3 months.

If you usually take this medicine, it is likely your pharmacist will offer you another manufacturer’s version of zonisamide. If you have any concerns about this, please speak to your GP or epilepsy specialist.

We are aware that a number of generic versions of zonisamide are unavailable at the moment. If your pharmacist is unable to get hold of generic zonisamide you may wish to speak to your GP or epilepsy specialist about getting a prescription for the branded version. We have checked with the makers of Zonegran, the branded version of zonisamide, and they have told us Zonegran capsules are available in all strengths.

My daughter regularly takes Zonisamide to control her epilepsy. In both 50 and 100mg capsules. I was told by my pharmacist that there is currently a manufacturing issue with the 100mg capsules and that all manufactures are currently out of stock with this form of Zonisamide.
