Teva topiramate 50mg tablets are out of stock until mid-February 2019. The 10mg and 25mg tablets are available but low in stock.

My son was diagnosed with the leva lamotrigine, and as being doing really well on them,he's been seizure free for nearly 3 years.
Until then the company who stopped doing them,my son's seizures have returned, taking a different brand as not only caused his seizures to return, but he now as depression and anxiety,he can't leave the house without having panic attacks,he's very emotional and loves going to watch his favourite football team, but recently he's been struggling at the games,he's had to go on the sick,as he also finds it difficult to go to work.
He desperately needs help,is there anything that can be done.

Dear Beverley

It sounds like a terrible and distressing situation for your son. It maybe his feelings are side effects from the new version of his topiramate.  Some people say they have no problem with taking different versions of their epilepsy medicine. However, some people who have switched to a different version have told us that they have had more seizures and/or side effects that they haven’t had before.

It would be best to talk to your son’s family doctor or chemist. You now need to find another version of this medicine that doesn’t cause your son to have side-effects.  This may be the brand or another generic. The most reliable way to get the same version is to ask your doctor to write the brand or a particular manufacturer’s generic version name on prescription.

If your son and his GP or chemist believe what he is experiencing is a side-effect of the different topiramate, it would be very helpful if this is reported to the MHRA. You can report side-effects yourself by completing a Yellow Card. These are available from your GP, pharmacist or the Yellow Card scheme:

Tel: 0800 731 6789 (10.00am – 2.00pm Monday – Friday)
