Star of wonder

8 Nov 2013

This holiday, Epilepsy Action offers you a chance to remember someone who can’t be with you this year. Donate now for a Shining Star decoration with a personalised inscription and pride of place at the Leeds Minster Carol Concert

“Loved ones are like stars, you don’t always see them, but you know they are always there.”

The festive season is a time for fun and happiness, what with gifts and festivities, good food and great company. Still, many of us may feel sadness in the absence of a loved one. That loved one may have died or may be half way around the world, celebrating somewhere else.

Are you thinking of a loved one who can’t be with you this festive season? Whatever the reason, make a beautiful gesture that can keep their memory at the forefront of your mind. Remember that person, while singing carols and wrapping gifts and spreading festive cheer. Remember them with an Epilepsy Action Shining Star.

Your Shining Star is a decoration, beautifully made with a sparkling chrome finish. When you order it, you can ask for a message to be engraved on it. This might be the name of your loved one, or a poignant personal message of your choice. The engraving can be up to 45 letters or numbers (including any spaces).

Each and every Shining Star will be displayed in pride of place at a special Epilepsy Action event. This event is the Leeds Minster Carol Concert, taking place on Tuesday 10 December.

As a star holder, you will be invited to attend the carol service, to see your star shining and join in the festivities. Sip mulled wine and munch on minced pies before settling in for a beautiful festive service of carols and seasonal readings. Throughout the event, you’ll be able to see your star along with all the others. They will be a glistening reminder of the importance of our loved ones during the holidays.

The shining star with inscriptionAfter the service, your star will be presented to you in a special keepsake box so that you can take your star away and keep it forever. If you are unable to attend the service, your star will be sent to you by post. You are guaranteed to receive it by Monday 16 December – for you to hang in your own home during the festive season.

To receive a Shining Star dedicated to a loved one, we suggest a donation of £10 or whatever you can afford. This gift of £10 could help fund research into the causes and consequences of living with epilepsy.

It could fund the Epilepsy Helpline in providing advice and support for someone who is struggling to control their seizures.

Place your online order now or call (+44)113 210 8820. Make sure no one’s memory is left out this festive season!

Star dimensions: 54mm (from point to point)
