Highways Agency investigates cats' eyes

13 March, 2007

The UK Highways Agency has confirmed they are investigating the
effects a new design of road stud could have on people with
photosensitive epilepsy.

They have also said that, so
far, no-one has reported having a seizure from seeing the studs,
although some people have complained that they find the studs visually
uncomfortable.

Alternative studs, spaced more widely, are being used during the investigation.

The Highways Agency is working with the charity Epilepsy Action to ensure that the
issue is fully investigated, and has invited the charity to visit the
site at the Witham By-pass when the new studs are installed.
