Mysoline/primidone to be withdrawn

29 Jul 2003

Epilepsy Action has learnt that the anti-epileptic drug Mysoline (primidone) is to be withdrawn by its manufacturers from 1 December 2003.

AstraZeneca have announced a global discontinuation from that date, adding that there may be enough stock after withdrawal for the month of December only. Pharmacists and doctors have been informed.

Epilepsy Action strongly urges people taking primidone to speak to their specialist for transfer to another medication.
