Kelly Osbourne epilepsy scare

13 Mar 2013

Kelly Osbourne in 2009Television personality Kelly Osbourne made headlines after collapsing on the set of her style show, Fashion Police. Although reports are unconfirmed, it seems she did have a seizure.

The incident happened last Thursday (7 March) during the recording of the latest episode of her programme. While sitting on a judging panel, Kelly fell from her chair, experiencing convulsions. Although she recovered within minutes, she was rushed to hospital.

While spokespeople for Kelly insist she fainted on set, Kelly’s tweet from the hospital said: “Thank U all 4 UR beautiful well wishes yes I did have a seizure they are just trying to figure out why?” (sic)

Kelly Osbourne in 2009At first kept in purely for observation, Kelly’s condition may have been more serious than first suspected. According to further reports, she had been prescribed epilepsy medication. At the time of writing, however, Kelly’s spokespeople insisted that a diagnosis of epilepsy had yet to be confirmed.

Amanda Stoneman is an advice and information officer at Epilepsy Action. She says: “Around five per cent of people (that’s five in every 100) will have a seizure at some point in their life. Out of those five people, around four will develop epilepsy.”
