Online Headache Assessment

14 September, 2000

Headache sufferers can now complete an online questionnaire about the impact their headache has on their life.

The test has already been shown to help patients and Doctors improve diagnosis and treatment.

Dr Andrew Dowson of Kings College Hospital explains that "one of the key problems is that many patients with headaches find it hard to communicate their degree of disability to doctors. New assessment tools of this kind should improve the situation dramatically."

The test can work out how much the headache is limiting the sufferer, and give the person a score. The higher the score, the more severe the problem.

The headache impact test has been developed by Quality Metric Inc of the US, and Glaxo Wellcome pharmaceutical firm.
