Report due into suspended doctor

16 July, 2001

Dr Andrew Holton has been suspended by Leicester Royal Infirmary following concerns about his clinical practice and diagnosis of children with epilepsy.

Outside experts have been called in to review aspects of Dr Holton's work and are due to deliver a report this week. Any of the doctor's patients in need of treatment will be seen by other paediatricians at the hospital.

It is expected that this report and its findings to be communicated to all those concerned as soon as possible, together with information about what action the hospital proposes to take and when this will happen.

The information line set up by the Infirmary for worried parents is 0116 258 7511.
