Jockel Walz

'Vowel-Towel of Pop Singer Rosy Silver'. Title and painting are a variation on a work by Paul Klee.  "The composition consists horizontally of two towels sewn together, vertically of two halves showing the R and S.  More important is the chequered grid in different magenta-pink shades and a lilac frame resembling the five vowels in capitals and lower case."

Jockel Walz was born in 1942, Berlin. He finished high school in 1962. From 1962 to 1968 he studied one semester of philosophy and history of art, painting in Hamburg. He received a grant from German Academic Exchange Service and Royal College of Art, London. In 1970 he received a grant from Edward Munch Estate, Oslo. Jockel has had group and solo-exhibitions in Hamburg, Hannover, Kassel, Munich and Zurich and more.
