Adding a gift to your existing will

If you’ve already made a will, your solicitor can add a gift to Epilepsy Action with an extra, legally-binding statement called a codicil, like the one shown below.

Epilepsy Action codicil statement:

“ I give to Epilepsy Action (which is a working name of British Epilepsy Association) of New Anstey House, Gate Way Drive, Yeadon, Leeds LS19 7XY, Registered Charity no. 234343,  ________________________ and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other proper Officer of the said charity shall be a full and sufficient discharge of the same."

Even if you are making a will for the first time, your solicitor may need much of the same information. If you give this codicil wording to your solicitor you can be sure your gift will go to Epilepsy Action, not an organisation with a similar name.

If you haven’t made a will yet

We strongly recommend you write or amend your will with the services of a solicitor to avoid your wishes not being carried out. They will be able to guide you through the process of considering your assets, commitments and choosing executors.

You can take up a special offer from Epilepsy Action to create a free will using the National Free Wills Network.
