Update on 15 February 2023

Janssen, the manufacturers of Topamax (Brand version of topiramate), have confirmed to us that Topamax 25mg medicines are currently out of stock. They expect these to be restocked in March 2023.

Janssen said that all other strengths of Topamax are in stock and are being supplied to their wholesalers.

Jannsen have provided the following statement:

“From December 2022 to Q1 2023, Janssen is seeing the potential for supply shortages or stockouts of various strengths of TOPAMAX® (topiramate) in the UK.

As you may be aware, this is due to a product discontinuation by the market-leading generic company, which is no longer able to supply topiramate in the short term.

Janssen is working with UK health authorities to help cover the unexpectedly high demand for TOPAMAX caused by this unforeseen product discontinuation.

We understand the supply shortage can be concerning for patients; therefore, we advise that they consult with their healthcare provider if they have questions about their ongoing therapy needs.”

Janssen have advised that pharmacies can contact them directly on 0800 731 5550 if they need urgent supply.
