What is the purpose of the role?

To raise awareness and understanding about epilepsy, improving public knowledge and support for the condition

What’s involved?

  • Deliver epilepsy awareness sessions
  • Support local events such as ‘awareness and information days
  • Promote the AV service in the area

What skills and experience do I need?

  • Completion of the AV training programme
  • Able to deliver presentations effectively and with confidence
  • Able to present information clearly
  • Comfortable engaging with groups and individuals
  • Able to answer questions clearly and concisely
  • Enthusiastic and resourceful
  • Knowledge and/or personal experience of epilepsy
  • Experience of presenting to groups of different types and sizes
  • Experience of using PowerPoint presentation software
  • Positive attitude to people with long term health needs

What support and training will I receive?

Support from Local Services Manager


  • AV training programme
  • Induction training
  • Update training


  • Two to four hours a month
  • Some volunteering in the evening or weekends possible


Travel to venues will be necessary


Reasonable expenses will be repaid

I'm looking into getting a group going in our local area Co Durham I live nine miles between Co Durham & Newcastle which is our closest one so we don't have one in Co Durham which is our local council,I'm sure there must be people in Co Durham who need help/support
