Have a diamond cuppa for chari-tea

National charity Epilepsy Action is urging tea drinkers across the UK to have a diamond cuppa as part of National Tea Break 2010. The annual event coincides with the charity’s 60th anniversary diamond jubilee celebrations. 

This year's event, on Friday 22 October, marks the eighth time running for the grand scale tea party. National Tea Break encourages tea lovers to get together to help raise vital funds for Epilepsy Action, simply by drinking tea and eating cake.

Statement on proposed Disability Living Allowance reform in the Budget

Chancellor George Osbourne delivered his first Budget yesterday and included in it a reference to changes to the Disability Living Allowance.

The Budget says: “The Government will reform the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) to ensure support is targeted on those with the highest medical need. The Government will introduce the use of objective medical assessments for all DLA claimants from 2013-14 to ensure payments are only made for as long as a claimant needs them.”

Epilepsy Action Branch Member Of The Year Award

Irene Beevers, dedicated officer of the Doncaster Branch of Epilepsy Action, has won a national award in recognition of her work for the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.

The Epilepsy Action Branch Member of the Year Award was presented to Irene by Richard Chapman, an Epilepsy Action trustee, at the branch meeting on Tuesday 8 June at 6.30pm, at the Stirling Social Centre, Milton Walk, Hyde Park, Doncaster.
