Epilepsy Action provides new service for helpline users

Advice and information about epilepsy is now available at the touch of a button thanks to a new text message service launched today (March 3).

Epilepsy Action, the UK's largest member-led epilepsy organisation, has introduced the new service to ensure advice and information about epilepsy is as accessible as possible.

The system allows people to text questions to the Epilepsy Helpline from their mobile phone. A trained member of Epilepsy Action's advice and information team will then send a reply within 24 hours (on working days).

New guide strives to improve care of neurological conditions

A ground-breaking guide aimed at promoting the benefits of specialist nurses in the care of people with long term neurological conditions is launched today (May 1).

The important document results from a unique partnership between three of the UK's leading charities for neurological conditions, Epilepsy Action, the MS Society and the Parkinson's Disease Society, with the Department of Health, Royal College of Nursing and NHS National Workforce Projects.

England star pens a doodle

Even though the Six Nations are in full swing England Rugby Union star Jamie Noon has found time to doodle in support of this year's National Doodle Day, which is today (Friday March 7).

He joins a host of other sporting celebrities, including Sir Bobby Charlton, Alan Hansen and Colin Jackson, who have taken part in the event which raises vital funds for Epilepsy Action and the Neurofibromatosis Association.

This is the fifth National Doodle Day and, over the last four years, the event has raised more than £125,000 for the two charities.
