Fourth Bradford 10k sprints into the New Year

Leeds-based national charity Epilepsy Action is encouraging the people of West Yorkshire to work off their Christmas calories by taking part in the charity’s fourth annual Bradford 10k road race. It is hoped that over a thousand people will take to the streets of Bradford on Sunday 20 March to raise vital funds for the charity.

The race has become a permanent fixture on Bradford’s events calendar since it began in 2008. Since then, it has raised over £82,000 for Epilepsy Action and almost 2,500 runners have crossed the finish line.

Schools encouraged to get creative for charity

Schools across the country are being encouraged to show their artistic side as part of this year's National Doodle Day. The event, on Friday 11 February, raises money for two UK neurological charities, Epilepsy Action and The Neurofibromatosis Association.

Pupils and staff are encouraged to draw a doodle and submit it into the annual National Doodle Day competition for the chance to win some fantastic prizes for their school. The winners will also have their work displayed in the doodle Hall of Fame on the National Doodle Day website.

Epilepsy charity funds local epilepsy projects

Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is looking for applicants to apply for funding from its ‘Diamond Projects’ scheme.

Diamond Projects have been set up to mark Epilepsy Action’s sixtieth anniversary. The scheme aims to help improve the lives of nearly half a million people with epilepsy in the UK. The next round of applications opens on 1 December 2010. The closing date is 31 January 2011.
