Epilepsy Action Branch Member Of The Year Award

Colette McCool, stalwart of the Foyle Branch of Epilepsy Action, has won a national award in recognition of her work for the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.

The Epilepsy Action Branch Member of the Year Award was presented to Colette by Ena Bingham, an Epilepsy Action trustee, at the branch’s end of season dinner on Tuesday 29 June at the City Hotel, Derry. 

Colette, a dedicated member of the Foyle Branch, has been active in helping those with epilepsy through her devoted commitment to Epilepsy Action and its work.

Epilepsy Action volunteers hold epilepsy meetings to celebrate National Epilepsy Week (13 – 19 June)

Volunteers from Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, are holding a series of advice and information days across Northern Ireland to celebrate National Epilepsy Week, and promote epilepsy awareness.

The events will take place on 14 June at Antrim Area Hospital, Antrim, on 15 June at the Connswater Shopping Centre, Belfast, and on 18 June at the Omagh Carnival, Omagh.  All events will be held between 10.00am and 3.00pm, and are open to anyone with an interest in epilepsy.

Dromore woman walks her way to charity ‘wonga’

A Dromore woman, whose sister has epilepsy, is preparing to raise serious ‘wonga’ for Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.

Ruth Wethers has organised an Epilepsy Action Wonga Walk at Castlewellan Forest Park on Friday 18 June at 7.00pm.  Ruth has organised two routes for the walk, which takes place during National Epilepsy Week (13-19 June). The first route is 2.75 miles and takes walkers around the park’s lake; the other is five and a half miles and is a hilly forest walk.
