Winchester golf club supports local epilepsy charity

South Winchester Golf Club presented a cheque for over £13,000 to national charity Epilepsy Action on Saturday 2 July. MP for Winchester Steve Brine presented the cheque to Mark McDaid, local services manager for the south west at Epilepsy Action, on behalf of the golf club. 

The club has been fundraising to support the charity’s work in Winchester throughout 2010. Both the men’s and women’s captains, Robert Wilson and Mary Lou Viljoen, have family members who have been affected by epilepsy. Epilepsy Action was therefore chosen as the club’s charity of the year.

Porthleven woman hosts charity birthday bash

A Porthleven woman, who has epilepsy, is hosting a birthday celebration with a difference. Sophie-Lauren Hodge has organised a Big Eat for national charity Epilepsy Action to celebrate her twenty-first birthday.  

Sophie-Lauren will be hosting the event for family and friends at her home on Saturday 11 June.  She will invite guests to donate to Epilepsy Action in exchange for a meal. 

Cream tea party for epilepsy in Bournemouth and Poole

Epilepsy Action, the UK's largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is holding a cream tea party to celebrate the re-launch of its Bournemouth and Poole Branch. The branch has been set up to support people with epilepsy, thanks to the work of local volunteers.

The cream tea event will take place on Monday 13 June from 7.00pm until 9.00pm at Parkstone Christian Centre, Commercial Road, Poole. Anyone with an interest in epilepsy is welcome.
