Reading Branch of Epilepsy Action holds epilepsy awareness evening

The Reading Branch of Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation, is hosting a public meeting about epilepsy specialist nurses on 21 August 2010.

The event, funded by the branch, will take place at Novotel Reading Centre, 25b Friar Street, Reading, from 12.00pm to 3.30pm. It is open to anyone with an interest in epilepsy.

Winchester man tees-off golf marathon for epilepsy charity

A  Winchester man has completed a five-round golfing marathon, raising almost £2,000 for Epilepsy Action, the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy charity.

Robert Wilson, 66, the South Winchester Golf Club Captain, completed the 16-hour golf day on Saturday 24 July at South Winchester Golf Club. Robert and three of his friends at the club played five rounds of golf without using buggies. The group was raising money to set up a new branch in Winchester to support people with epilepsy in the area.

Teignmouth mum and daughter take on steep climb for epilepsy charity

A Teignmouth mum and daughter are aiming to conquer the UK’s highest mountain, to raise vital funds for UK charity, Epilepsy Action.

Jane Burt (59) and Alice (26), who has epilepsy, will attempt the Epilepsy Action Ben Nevis Challenge over three days from 27 to 29 August. The climb will involve eight hours of walking, mostly up a very steep gradient and uneven terrain. At 1,343 metres (4,406 feet), Ben Nevis, located near Fort William in Scotland, is the UK’s highest mountain, attracting thousands of trekkers each year.
