Scarborough man goes the extra mile for epilepsy charity

A Scarborough man, who has epilepsy, is preparing to lace up his running shoes to complete the McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k road race. Joel Bailey is taking part to raise funds for national charity Epilepsy Action. The charity provides advice and support to the 600,000 people with epilepsy in the UK.

Joel, 25, will join around 1,000 runners in attempting the 10 kilometre run through along the Scarborough coast on Sunday 28 October. Joel has chosen to take part for Epilepsy Action because he has epilepsy.

York man goes the extra mile for epilepsy charity

A York man is preparing to lace up his running shoes to complete the Bupa Great North Run. Mel Clark is taking part to raise funds for national charity Epilepsy Action. The charity provides advice and support to the 600,000 people with epilepsy in the UK.

Mel, (age 56), will attempt the prestigious 13.1 miles through Tyneside on Sunday 16 September. He has chosen to take part for Epilepsy Action in memory of his wife’s son Andrew, who died as a result of an epileptic seizure earlier this year, aged 29.

Keighley family tee-off for epilepsy charity in memory of son

A Keighley man and his family have raised over £1,000 for Leeds-based national charity Epilepsy Action, in memory of their son.

Joseph Mancakas organised the fourth annual Memorial Golf Day on Saturday 21 July at Riddlesden Golf Club in memory of his son René. René had epilepsy and died in 2008, aged 36, after an epileptic seizure. Along with his father Joseph, René was a keen golfer. Since the event began, the Mancakas family has raised over £4,000 for Epilepsy Action.
