In 2020, there was marked improvement in the outcomes of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) applications for people with epilepsy.

Despite this improvement, there is still much more to do, and there are still people with epilepsy who should be in receipt of PIP being refused. To understand what recent problems people with epilepsy have experienced with Personal Independence Payments Epilepsy Action have launched a welfare survey. With this survey the organisation also wants to understand more about whether people with epilepsy are getting the support they need from Universal Credit.

Epilepsy Action welcomes anyone with epilepsy, or a parent or carer of someone with epilepsy, who has applied for PIP or Universal Credit to answer this survey. If you are completing it on behalf of someone else, please answer on behalf of the child with epilepsy or the person with epilepsy you care for.

The survey should take no longer than 10-15 minutes to complete. The results will help Epilepsy Action focus their campaigning work to improve the benefits system for people with epilepsy, including their reply to the Government’s Disability and Health Green Paper, which is expected later this year.
