What is face to face fundraising?

Meeting you face to face, talking about our work, and giving people the opportunity to donate is an essential and highly effective part of our life-changing fundraising programme.

Face to face fundraising helps us find new supporters who are happy to commit to a regular gift and join our mission of a life free from limits for people living with epilepsy.

We are currently recruiting donors in private site locations in the South on England.

What is telephone fundraising?

Speaking directly with the people who champion our work is one of the best parts of what we do. Your stories, your experiences and your passion for creating a better future for people with epilepsy inspire us every day.

Sometimes, when we need to share an important update with many supporters at once, we partner with our trusted telephone fundraising agency, Quality Telephone Services (QTS). Their callers are specially trained by the Epilepsy Action team to understand the realities of living with epilepsy and to communicate with sensitivity, respect and care.

They also receive in‑depth briefings about our mission and why raising funds is vital to creating a world without limits for people with epilepsy.

Right now, QTS is helping us contact our supporters (previously known as members) to invite them to join our new Community of Support — a growing network of people who want to stand alongside everyone affected by epilepsy.

If you receive a call, we hope you’ll take a moment to chat. It’s another way for us to stay connected, share what your support is making possible, and build a stronger community together.

How your support helps

Rhys really struggled after he was diagnosed with epilepsy. The life he once knew disappeared and it started to spiral out of control

Rhys is just one of many people who were left isolated and alone due to their epilepsy, see how Epilepsy Action’s support changed it for the better.

Your questions on face to face fundraising answered

  • What is private site fundraising?

Private site fundraising means our fundraisers visit a variety of public locations such as train stations, shopping centres, and supermarkets.

Our teams will speak with members of the public, provide them with information about our work and sign-up supporters who are interested in supporting our work.

  • How will I recognise an Epilepsy Action fundraiser?

You will recognise our fundraiser by their branded clothing. All of our fundraisers will also have a stand and banner, displaying our charity logo and registered charity number.

They will also be wearing an ID badge with their name, photo and ID number.

If you are unsure as to whether someone claiming to fundraise for Epilepsy Action is authorised, please call 0113 210 8800.

  • About our fundraisers

We work with an agency, Gather, to carry out our face-to-face fundraising activities.

All fundraisers working on these teams are trained by Epilepsy Action to ensure they are knowledgeable and delivering the best service possible.

We are members of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising (CIoF) and the Fundraising Regulator and all of our fundraisers follow the code of conduct set out by the CIoF.

  • How do I amend or cancel my direct debit if I sign up and change my mind?

Pleas email our supporter care team at supportcare@epilepsy.org.uk or call 0113 210 8800 and they will be able to do this for you.

  • How to provide feedback or make a complaint
