We fight to improve the lives
of everyone affected by epilepsy

Hilary

I had my first seizure while in front of a computer screen, then nothing till two years later on the hottest day of 2019 which I think was caused by stress.

In my seizures I have to go to hospital as I am unconscious for two hours. I haven't come across that.

I am on Sodium Valproate as I am past child bearing age. I have been on it before as I also have bipolar affective disorder for which I take Olanzopine. The two together are thought to be good.

I have also had a slight stroke but it does not affect me much. I am 70 now so I am a bit concerned what else I might get!

I have been told not to have baths and not to use the stove when there is no one else in the house. I don't drive so I just have lifts.

I have recently got a 'desmopressin dependant' bracelet as I have Diabetes Insipidus which is a rare pituitary problem.

I am very dependant on my husband and dread being on my own though my neurologist says that now I am on medication I shouldn't have another seizure.
