We fight to improve the lives
of everyone affected by epilepsy

Yvonne - nurse

I have had epilepsy since being 3yrs old, and at the age of 11 I was admitted to the local hospital due to status epilepsy seizures. It was whilst I was on this ward that I was watching what the nurses were doing and I then decided that I wanted to be a nurse.

I had difficulty getting into nurse training and eventually was accepted into a hospital down Essex. I went through my training seizure free and then a new drug came out and I was put on it. Then I had seizures. The hospital would not let me apply for my nurses pin, even though I had passed my exams. They offered me a payout and I refused it.I contacted a solicitor and with his help got my nurses pin.

I will not let epilepsy stand in my way and I have been nursing for 30+ years.
