Our Campaign volunteers raise awareness about epilepsy and advocate for better support and understanding locally and nationally.  This is the role for you if you are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of individuals with epilepsy and their families.

The focus of our current campaign is employment.  Do you want to help influence national and local policies to help people with epilepsy find, and stay in work?

If you have epilepsy, or a close connection to someone who does, and have had trouble finding work, or problems with an employer due to your epilepsy we would welcome your support for our employment campaign.

What it’s like to be a Campaign volunteer?

Epilepsy Action deliver a variety of campaigns throughout the year to raise awareness around different aspects of living with epilepsy.  You don’t have to get involved with them all, you can choose the campaigns that are particularly relevant or of most interest to you. It’s up to you whether you do this online via social media or in your local community.

You could be:

  • Contacting politicians about Epilepsy Action campaigns and areas of concern
  • Attending events such as epilepsy awareness events and focus groups
  • Attending MP advice surgeries to influence and explain lived experience of epilepsy
  • Influencing other national agencies such as the NHS, and government departments/agencies
  • Promoting Epilepsy Action campaigns via social media
  • Sharing your experiences to promote campaigns

The difference you'll make

Our campaign volunteers make a huge difference through raising awareness about epilepsy and advocating for better support and understanding amongst national and local policy makers and leaders. Their commitment and enthusiasm is crucial to breaking the stigma surrounding epilepsy and improving the quality of life for those affected by the condition.

What support will I receive?

You’ll have a dedicated volunteer supervisor to support you who will offer any help or guidance you might need to make sure you get the most out of your volunteering.

Role specific training will be provided throughout your volunteering with us. This will include some e-learning from home using our online induction.

 

 

Who can volunteer in this role?

Anyone with a connection to epilepsy. You don’t have to have epilepsy yourself, you could be a partner, family member, close friend or healthcare professional.  Previous volunteer experience is not required.

This is a really flexible role that can fit easily around all lifestyles. You’ll be able to give your time when it suits you.

This volunteer role is open to anyone over the age of 18 living in the UK. We welcome people from all backgrounds and with all interests.
