Love Island contestant Camilla Thurlow and her family before daughter Nora began having seizure-type eventsFormer Love Island contestant Camilla Thurlow has shared that her daughter, Nora, four, has had “seizure-type events” and “a number of unexplained falls”.

The 36-year-old former humanitarian explosive ordinance disposal specialist posted the update on her Instagram yesterday, alongside a video of Nora walking happily in a field.

She said Nora had been seen by an NHS paediatrician and will have an EEG as soon as possible.

“Naturally, we’ve been processing the worries that come with not knowing what the answers might be,” Camilla wrote.

“In the meantime, though, we wanted to reassure you that, for the most part, she is her usual happy self.

“Understandably, she’s a little more cautious at the moment and seeking lots of connection, but she is absolutely surrounded by love and support from her sister and brother, our family and friends and especially her nursery.”

Camilla praised Nora’s nursery team for their excellent support for Nora during the events, and their vigilance.

She wrote: “We are incredibly grateful for the way they have created such love, safety and security for her during these moments, and for their detailed recording of events, which I’m sure played a huge part in Nora receiving such a prompt referral.”

Diagnosed with autism

Camilla has continuously been open about Nora’s autism and being non-verbal on Instagram and on her podcast, Bicker, which she co-hosts with husband and fellow Love Island contestant, Jamie Jewitt, 36.

Nora was diagnosed with autism in February 2025, and Camilla and Jamie shared the news in March, saying: “We know there are some very real challenges ahead of you, and that we will need to grow as parents to make sure we give you what we hope to give all our children; the tools to navigate spaces that are difficult for you, the empowerment to set boundaries that serve you and above all a happy life with every opportunity to be yourself.”

Since then, they’ve spoken on social media and on their podcast about navigating life with an autistic child, including the benefits of hearing other children’s stories about autism, heartache around meeting developmental milestones, worries around filling out education health and care plans (EHCP) paperwork and the breadth of the autistic spectrum.

Camilla has also spoken to the Prime Minister, sharing concerns over the special educational needs and disabilities reform white paper, challenging a tier-structured support system, ensuring that there is enough early support for children, and ensuring local authorities can meet assessment timelines.

While Nora has not been diagnosed with epilepsy, research shows autistic people are more likely to develop epilepsy than the general population.

According to NHS England, 12.1% of autistic people have epilepsy, compared with 1% of the general population.

Leading with love

In her most recent post, Camilla praises her daughter for her kind and loving nature and her ability to communicate without words. She wrote: “Nora’s greatest gift is her ability to communicate exactly who she is without any need for words.

“That’s why everyone who meets her ends up with a soft spot for her, touched by the openness of her beautiful smile and her gentle soul.

“Above all, Nora, as always, is facing these challenges the same way she faces everything else, leading with love, warmth and joy.

“She lights up our world and brings happiness to everyone who knows her, and wherever she goes, we will follow.”

Camilla and Jamie met in 2017 on Series 3 of Love Island. They coupled up on the show and have remained together ever since.

The couple married in 2021, and they have three children: Nell, five, Nora, and Brodie, two.
