My name is Chris and I have been a Befriending Volunteer at Epilepsy Action for 1 year.

My name is Chris and I have been a Befriending Volunteer at Epilepsy Action for 1 year.

I chose to become a volunteer because previously I have received bullying, social isolation and mental health problems due to my own epilepsy.  I enjoy being able to change this view by raising epilepsy awareness, supporting others connected to epilepsy and being empathetic.

"As a Befriender I use my listening skills and empathy to enable people living with epilepsy to be more confident and independent."

As a volunteer, the Befriending service offers a good range of resources, dedicated, trained staff and supervision.  We also get the chance to meet other volunteers as well.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Chris.

Want to make a difference too?
