Talk and support group blog October 2023

During the month of October our volunteers hosted 32 face to face groups across the UK.

We also held 17 virtual groups. These were a mix of general groups, regional groups and themed groups. We are currently training our virtual volunteers to be able to host these groups, and many are already doing a fantastic job of co-hosting.

November will see new face to face groups launch in Liverpool, Manchester, Doncaster and Central London.

Our groups are peer support groups, where people can talk and share experiences. This month, we have talked about how epilepsy can impact everyone’s lives in different ways, and people in the group were able to offer each other tips and support on living well with epilepsy.

These are the topics that came up the most in this month’s groups:

Positive stories

Here is some feedback from our groups in October:

“The big thing to remember is that it’s ok to let go to let go and cry. If we don’t then we can’t expect to stay strong. Everyone needs a reset every now and again.”

“People enjoy coming to the group as they feel safe & confident to share their experiences without any stigma.”
