Epilepsy Action has been re-certified with the PIF TICK, the UK’s only assessed quality mark for print and online health and care information, awarded by the Patient Information Forum.
The PIF TICK accreditation, confirmed last week, certifies Epilepsy Action as ‘a trusted information creator’. The organisation had to go through a rigorous assessment showing that its health information production process meets 10 key criteria.
This means Epilepsy Action’s health information is evidence-based, understandable, jargon-free, up-to-date and produced to the best possible standard.
“In the era of misinformation and disinformation, it is vital to have access to health information you know you can trust” says Alison Fuller, Director of Health Improvement and Influencing. “Getting the PIF TICK re-certification shows that we have robust editorial processes in place that ensure our health information is expert-led, reliable and based on the latest evidence.
“We also make sure our health information is written in plain English to make it accessible to the widest range of people. Our PIF TICK certification ensures the information you read is clinically accurate and reflects the experiences of people with epilepsy.”
Epilepsy Action produces its public-facing health information in partnership with medical experts. It is also reviewed by people affected by the condition.
If you are affected by epilepsy and are interested in helping us produce our health information, we’d love to hear from you. Find out more about becoming a health information volunteer.
