Liberating the NHS: the government’s White Paper on health reform

On Monday 18 July, the Secretary of State for Health, Andrew Lansley, set out the new government’s plans to reform the NHS in England. The plans were set out in a document called ‘Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS’. The aim of these reforms is to give more power to doctors and patients in how services look, and how they are delivered.

International Excellence in Epilepsy Journalism Award

The International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE) has launched the 2010 Excellence in Epilepsy Journalism Award.

The award is open to journalists around the world who can either submit their own work or be nominated by someone else. There are three categories – for print, online and broadcast media.  The entries will be judged by an independent panel of media experts and people with experience of epilepsy. The panel will reward responsible, informed, original and stimulating news or feature articles on epilepsy.

This week is National Epilepsy Week in the UK.  It’s a really important week for Epilepsy Action, and we use it to raise awareness of epilepsy.
