An epilepsy specialist nurse at the Princess of Wales and Neath Port Talbot hospitals, Lisa says, “I have decided to set myself some challenges for my 50th birthday year. This will be my 14th marathon and my 10th London marathon.”
Lisa’s new decade will see her taking part in a total of five runs to raise money for Epilepsy Action. She explains, “I use Epilepsy Action materials on a daily basis so am thrilled to be giving something back.”
Lisa’s other chosen charity, Raising Lolly for Evan and Ollie, is named after twin brothers, one of whom has severe epilepsy. She has already completed the Llanelli Half Marathon and will be tackling the Beast of Bryn in May, Swansea Half Marathon in June and finally the Great North Run in September.
Running in a fairy costume, Lisa is more than ready for the London Marathon. “My costume is being customised, it has photos of Evan and Ollie, a photo of two of my inspiring patients who are no longer with us, plus a photo of my dad who came with me to all of my marathons. I also have huge fairy wings and pink leg warmers in memory of Rosie who loved pink.”
Lisa aims to raise £500 for Epilepsy Action. The money she raises will help to support the charity’s work all over the UK. To sponsor Lisa, visit http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/lisaphillips3
